How to Preserve Butter?

How to Preserve Butter? Butter preservation method

As long as it is food, there will be a shelf life and an optimal taste period. If the butter is not stored properly, it will lose its original flavor, and even worse, it will go bad and moldy. Wouldn’t it be a waste of a large part of the purchase? Today’s article, share it with friends who love to stock up~

One of the most worrying questions for many people is “Will I buy so much butter quickly go bad”. In fact, butter is not that fragile. Instead of worrying about “deterioration”, it is better to find a way to “keep it fresh” for as long as possible. The main component of butter is fat, and it is difficult for microorganisms to reproduce on it. The only thing to consider is the oxidation and hydrolysis of fat. The fat in butter is basically above 80%, and some brands of anhydrous butter even reach 99%. If it is not stored well, the oil is easy to oxidize, ketones and aldehydes will be produced, and the smell will be very unpleasant. Therefore, the most important thing for butter preservation is low temperature drying and prevention of odor.
How to Preserve Butter? Butter preservation method
Seal it and store it in a low-temperature and dry environment, which is a refrigerator/freezer storage environment suitable for storing butter: -18°C to 5°C. According to the use, there are the following situations:

Unopened

Put the butter in a storage box that can be frozen or a compact bag that can be kept fresh and put it directly into the freezer. This method can greatly extend the life of butter, no problem for more than half a year. Of course, the premise is that there is no too much debris in the freezer and no smell.

Already opened

Don’t throw the outer packaging. After splitting with water-free and oil-free knives, they can be neatly wrapped in the original packaging to exhaust the air as much as possible. Then wrap a layer of plastic wrap/sealed bag on the outside and put it in the refrigerator.

Those used within 2 weeks can be put in refrigeration, try not to put on the refrigerator door, the temperature is unstable. If you use it for more than 2 weeks, you need to put it in the frozen layer.

Bulky

Keep your hands and knives clean, cut into small pieces according to the required weight, and separate them with tin foil or silicone oil paper, which can prevent adhesion and is clean and hygienic. Wrap it with plastic wrap/sealed bag/a reliable quality insurance storage box, and put it in the refrigerator/freezer according to the time of use.

Just take out a small piece of thawing each time, which can avoid the deterioration of butter caused by repeated freezing and thawing, because although butter can solidify after melting, because the internal structure is uneven, the flavor will also be affected.

Summarize

The preserved butter should be dense and smooth at room temperature, free of bubbles, non-sticky, not fragile, and free of moisture. You can also cut a piece. If the color on the inside and outside is the same, it means it is still fresh. If the outside is darker than the inside, it means it has been oxidized. If it smells of fuel consumption, the taste will be greatly reduced~
