Low Platinum Load Film Electrodes by Ultrasonic Spray Method
Preparation of Extremely Low Platinum Load Film Electrodes Based on Ultrasonic Spray Method – Cheersonic
Recent studies have invented a proton conductive polymer for the usage of HTPEM fuel cells. PBI membrane (phosphoric acid doped polybenzimidazole) has proven to be very useful for HTPEM fuel cell applications. There is a tremendous potential in these membranes for further research. They have been proven to tolerate up to 3% CO. Platinum used as a catalyst for the splitting of gases is very costly and it is very sensitive to CO poisoning. Pure hydrogen formed from the electrolysis of water is costly and catalyst will be prone to CO poisoning if we use reformed hydrogen from hydrocarbons and this process releases few amount of CO2 also. At present we need to use four times less platinum than we presently use to make it competitive to combustion engines. Cheersonic recommends a method for preparing ultra-low platinum loading film electrodes based on ultrasonic spraying.
Cheersonic’s fuel cell catalyst coating systems are uniquely suited for these challenging applications by creating highly uniform, repeatable, and durable coatings. Using the company’s patented ultrasonic spray head technology, it can spray uniformly and efficiently on proton exchange membranes and gas diffusion layers. Uniform catalyst coatings are deposited onto PEM fuel cells, GDLs, electrodes, various electrolyte membranes, and solid oxide fuel cells with suspensions containing carbon black inks, PTFE binder, ceramic slurries, platinum and other precious metals.
1.Excellent stiction “adherence” to PEM; optimal for high vibration fuel cell applications such as automotive parts.
2.Low diversion pressure can reduce waste of overcoating and air pollution
3.Intermittent or continuous operation
4.High transfer efficiency.
5.No blockage
6.Utilization> 95%
7.Corrosion resistant stainless steel and titanium construction
