In almost every industry, effective shielding of components from electromagnetic interference (EMI) is essential. All electronic equipment must be protected from any radiation that may interfere with its normal operation.
The ideal shielding layer can isolate the components in seamless spheres made only of highly conductive metals such as aluminum, copper, silver or gold. Of course, this would be completely impractical, let alone the price.
In fact, component housings are usually injection-molded to provide lightweight and inexpensive parts. The part can be easily made into any shape required. However, plastic has no shielding properties. EMI can pass directly.
Therefore, a conductive coating that can increase the shielding performance of the housing or the component itself has been developed. These coatings are used for the first time in aerospace, military and high-tech applications to reflect harmful EMI.
