Ultrasonic Spraying of Membrane Materials

Ultrasonic Spraying of Membrane Materials – Cheersonic

The most widely used class of membrane materials today for the PEMFC are of the perfluorinated sulfonic acid (PFSA) type. However, they have the disadvantage of being inherently expensive due to the complex fluorine chemistry involved in their fabrication and too expensive to extent their application. Indeed, the Nafion based membrane shows complete domination in mechanical, physical and electrochemical properties. But there are some problems such as dehydration in high temperature and a high methanol permeability that caused the depolarization losses and energy conversion losses that could affecting the performance of fuel cells. To solve this problem, many researches have been done developing alternative ways in finding more economical and efficient non-perfluorinated polymer proton exchange membranes.

Ultrasonic Spraying of Membrane Materials - Cheersonic

Cheersonic ultrasonic coating systems suitable for R & D, small and medium-sized batch production. Cheersonic’s line of XYZ motion ultrasonic coating systems offer unique options that enable us to customize these machines based on customers’ process requirements. They are ideal for Solar and Fuel Cell manufacturing as well as research and development coatings in different environments, from fully inert to high temperature needs or rotational Z-axis for rod-shaped substrates. Due to the characteristics of controllable film thickness and high uniformity, the durability and conductivity of the film electrode can be greatly improved.

The advantages of Cheersonic ultrasonic coating systems include:

1.Very high Platinum utilization proven in MEA fabrication; as high as 90%.
2.Non-clogging
3.Low-flow spray reduces spillage and air pollution.
4.Continuous or intermittent operation possible
5.Highly porous coatings are extremely durable, preventing cracking or peeling of catalyst layer.
6.No moving parts to wear out
7.Minimal maintenance and downtime.
8.Robust design and materials resist corrosion.
9.Ultrasonic energy disperses the agglomerated particles, producing a homogeneous coating.
